Harbour Legend

The standard layout of each harbour guide contains: full name, position, pictures, diagram with key locations, wind & swell exposure indicator, key facilities provided, distances to nearest harbours and general information.

Name & position
: One harbour may include several names such as: Puerto Deportivo, Club Nautico, Real Club Regatas or Marina. The names used in the book are those given on harbour notices.  Longitude & Latitude is the official one given on charts or on harbour notices usually representing the harbour entrance.

Harbour diagrams
: All sketch diagrams are not to scale and intended for illustration and not navigational use. The diagrams use numbers showing the following locations:

Wind & swell indicator: The coloured compass circle indicates the direction of wind and swell that will generally make it uncomfortable to stay on board. For example:

Good shelter from all wind directions

Exposed to swell from strong southeasterly winds

Exposed to swell from strong southerly winds

Facilities: The green blocks indicate facilities provided and red blocks facilities are those not provided based upon observations during 2006 & 2007.

Distances to next harbour: The approximate distances in nautical miles and direction are based upon chart measurement.
