The standard layout of each harbour guide contains: full
name, position, pictures, diagram with key locations, wind & swell exposure
indicator, key facilities provided, distances to nearest harbours and general
information.
Name & position: One
harbour may include several names such as: Puerto Deportivo, Club Nautico, Real
Club Regatas or Marina. The names used in the book are those given on harbour
notices. Longitude & Latitude
is the official one given on charts or on harbour notices usually representing
the harbour entrance.
Harbour diagrams:
All sketch diagrams are not to scale and intended for illustration and not
navigational use. The diagrams use numbers showing the following locations:
Wind
& swell indicator: The coloured compass circle indicates the
direction of wind and swell that will generally make it uncomfortable to stay on
board. For example:
Good shelter from all wind directions
Exposed to swell
from strong southeasterly winds
Exposed to swell
from strong southerly winds
Facilities:
The green blocks indicate facilities provided and red blocks facilities
are those not provided based upon observations during 2006 & 2007.
Distances
to next harbour: The approximate distances in nautical miles and
direction are based upon chart measurement.
